Air Force COOL pays for industry credentials for enlisted Airmen and Guardians, and it only pays vendors approved in its system. Accumentum is one of them. So you can take your Security+, CCNA, CISSP, PMP or SHRM-CP prep with us and have AF COOL pay for it once your funding request is approved.

Confirm eligibility and current policy
You need to be enlisted and on active duty for the whole request, with at least a 5-skill level in your primary AFSC and no UIF, control roster or overdue fitness assessment. Complete Virtual Benefits Training in AFVEC before your first request.

Pick an AF COOL credential
Choose one marked "AFCOOL Eligible" or "AFCOOL Leadership." It can be tied to your AFSC, or be one of your two picks outside it.

Get your quote kit from Accumentum
Email info@accumentum.net with your name as it shows in AFVEC, the course and your target start date. We send an itemized, unpaid invoice with our contact and payment details and our refund policy. Don't pay it. AF COOL pays us.

Set up your goal and requests in AFVEC
Create your AF COOL goal, upload our invoice and get your supervisor's approval. Then enter Accumentum as the vendor and create your requests in this order: study materials, prep course, exam. Submit 30 to 60 days before the start date. Your supervisor has 7 days to approve each one.

Train, test and report
Start only after AF COOL approves funding. Within 30 days of the end date, upload your exam results and our completion certificate to your goal and message the AF COOL office. Missing or failed results mean paying back the whole goal.

AF COOL rules change. The current AF COOL Handbook, version 3.0, came out in July 2025. Check AFVEC before you pick a course, submit a request or book an exam.
Funding Cap$4,500 over your career, not per year. Prep courses are capped at $2,000 and study materials at $500 per credential goal, and both count toward the $4,500.
Request TimingNo more than 60 and no fewer than 30 days before the start date. If you're separating or retiring, your requests have to be approved at least 120 days before your date of separation.
Approval WorkflowYour supervisor approves the goal first, then each funding request within 7 calendar days, or AFVEC deletes it. Self-paced courses can run no longer than 180 days.
No Reimbursement AssumptionGet approval before any cost. AF COOL won't pay you back, and you're personally liable for anything you buy or start early. If you fail the exam, you repay the prep course, materials and exam.
