Definition
Amazon CloudWatch is a monitoring and observability service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). It collects and tracks metrics, collects and monitors log files, and sets alarms. CloudWatch enables you to monitor your AWS resources and applications in real time, gaining system wide visibility. This allows you to react to performance changes, set alarms, and automatically respond to changes in your AWS environment. For instance, you can set an alarm to notify you when the CPU utilization of an EC2 instance exceeds 80%. Unlike simple logging, CloudWatch provides a comprehensive suite of tools for performance analysis and operational troubleshooting. You will encounter CloudWatch concepts on AWS certification exams like the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate and in expert-led training for cloud security.
