Quality Review

PathTerms

Definition

A Quality Review is a systematic process for evaluating work products, processes, or systems to ensure they meet predefined standards and requirements. It involves examining deliverables like code, documentation, or project plans to identify defects, inconsistencies, or areas for improvement before they impact end users or project outcomes. This proactive approach helps mitigate risks, enhance product reliability, and foster continuous improvement within an organization. For instance, a software development team might conduct a code review to catch bugs and ensure adherence to coding standards. Unlike a formal audit which focuses on compliance, a quality review is primarily concerned with the fitness for purpose and overall excellence of the item being reviewed. This concept is frequently encountered in project management domains like PMP and CAPM, as well as in IT security certifications such as Security+.
