Resource Access Issues

PathTerms

Definition

Resource Access Issues refer to situations where authorized users or systems are unable to access necessary resources, or unauthorized entities gain access. This can stem from misconfigurations, permission errors, network problems, or malicious activity. Understanding and preventing these issues is critical for maintaining operational continuity and protecting sensitive data. For instance, a web server unable to retrieve configuration files due to incorrect file permissions would be a resource access issue. This differs from a denial of service attack, which aims to overwhelm a resource rather than exploit access controls. These concepts are frequently tested on CompTIA Security+, CySA+, and CISSP examinations.
