Upon completing Accumentum’s SnowPro Specialty: Gen AI (GES-C02) Certification Training Course, you will be prepared to schedule the official Snowflake GES-C02 exam ($225 per attempt). The SnowPro Specialty: Gen AI Certification Exam validates specialized knowledge, skills, and best practices used to leverage Gen AI methodologies in Snowflake including key concepts, features, and programming constructs.

Snowflake lists the GES-C02 exam at 55 questions in 85 minutes. Question types are multiple select and multiple choice. The exam is offered in English, and you can take it online with a proctor or at a testing center.

The passing score is 750 on a scaled score from 0 to 1000. Snowflake notes that an exam may include unscored items used to gather statistics. They aren't marked, they don't count toward your score, and Snowflake builds in extra time for them.

The published domain weights are 1.0 Snowflake for Gen AI Overview (18%), 2.0 Snowflake Gen AI Functions (38%), 3.0 Snowflake Gen AI Governance (29%), 4.0 Snowflake Document Processing (15%).

Registration is $225 per attempt. Snowflake lists no prerequisites for this exam.

Gen AI fits data engineers, ML engineers and developers building AI features on top of Snowflake data with Cortex AI, document processing and model services. For a pay reference, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the May 2025 median annual wage for software developers, quality assurance analysts and testers at $134,040. That is a national midpoint, and location, experience and employer all move it. Source: BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook.

Paying on your own? This course is eligible for PathPay, our monthly payment plan. Terms of 3, 4 and 6 months carry no added fee. 9, 12 and 18 month terms add 5%, 10% and 15%. Questions about funding or class dates? Email info@accumentum.net.

Snowflake describes the SnowPro Specialty: Gen AI exam as one that tests your ability to define and implement Snowflake Gen AI principles, capabilities, and best practices, use Snowflake Cortex AI features and functions, including LLMs, to meet customer use cases, build and fine-tune open-source models with Snowpark Container Services and Snowflake Model Registry and use Snowflake document processing functions to build, manage, and optimize document parsing pipelines. Those are Snowflake's own words, and our lessons are built around each of them.

On the candidate side, Snowflake says: 1 or more years of Gen AI experience with Snowflake, in an enterprise environment. In addition, successful candidates may have proficiency writing code in Python. Previous data engineering and SQL knowledge is assumed. We use that as a gauge when students ask if they're ready.

The $225 fee is the standard U.S. price. Snowflake charges $180 for candidates testing in India, and the fee applies to every attempt, retakes included. There are no free retakes or retake discounts.

Snowflake allows a maximum of four attempts at the same exam in any 12 month period, with a mandatory 7 day wait between attempts, including the first retake.

You can reschedule up to 24 hours before a test center appointment, or any time before an online appointment. Snowflake caps reschedules at four, and after that you cancel and register again. Miss your slot and you lose the fee or voucher.

Testing runs through Pearson VUE. Online proctoring (OnVUE) happens at home or work on your own computer with a webcam and a locked-down browser, and bathroom breaks aren't allowed. At a test center the computer is provided and you can take a break, but the clock keeps running. Either way, no notes, phones, extra monitors, paper or food in the room. Bring an unexpired government-issued photo ID with a signature that exactly matches the name on your certification account.

Your score report lands in your Pearson VUE candidate account, not the Snowflake portal, and it points to objectives worth reviewing. If you pass, expect an Accredible email with your badge within 5 business days. If you don't, Snowflake suggests using the 7 day wait to work on the areas the report flags.

Snowflake recommends a mix of hands-on experience, expert-led training and self-study for GES-C02. The items it lists for this exam are Snowflake Gen AI Training and SnowPro Practice Exam: Gen AI. The practice exam is unproctored, costs $50, runs 65 minutes with at least 30 to 40 questions, and has to be started within 24 hours of buying it. It mirrors the live exam's domain weights but doesn't give a pass or fail.

Our study plan follows Snowflake's weights so your time goes where the points are. We open with domain 1.0, Snowflake for Gen AI Overview, which is 18% of the exam. Next comes Snowflake Gen AI Functions (2.0). At 38%, it's the heaviest domain, so it gets the most labs and practice questions. Then we move to Snowflake Gen AI Governance, worth 29%. We finish with Snowflake Document Processing, worth 15%. Each block ends with exam-style questions and a short review of what people missed.

Renewal works through Snowflake's Continuing Education program. You can renew SnowPro Specialty: Gen AI by completing one eligible Snowflake expert-led course or by earning an equivalent or higher-level SnowPro certification. Either one extends the credential two years from the completion or pass date, and it has to happen on or before your expiration date. Only ILT courses completed after June 9, 2025 count. For this certification, Snowflake lists these certification options: SnowPro Specialty: Gen AI, SnowPro Specialty: Snowpark, SnowPro Specialty: Native Apps, SnowPro Advanced: Administrator, SnowPro Advanced: Architect, SnowPro Advanced: Data Analyst, SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer, SnowPro Advanced: Data Scientist, SnowPro Advanced: Security Engineer and SnowPro Advanced: MLOps Engineer. The eligible ILT courses it lists are Administering Snowflake, Administering Snowflake II, Snowflake Gen AI, Snowflake Performance Automation and Tuning (3 Day), Snowflake Advanced, Snowflake Advanced Analytics, Snowflake Architect, Snowflake Data Engineer, Snowflake Data Engineer II, Snowflake Data Science, Snowflake Python Data Engineering and Snowflake Security Training.

Other SnowPro courses we teach: SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced: Administrator, SnowPro Advanced: Architect and SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer. Core is the prerequisite for every Advanced exam, so many students take it first.
