Scrum Artifacts

PathTerms

Definition

Scrum Artifacts are tangible representations of work and progress within the Scrum framework, providing transparency and opportunities for inspection and adaptation. The three core artifacts are the Product Backlog, the Sprint Backlog, and Increment, each offering a unique perspective on the project's state. These artifacts work by making key information visible to the entire Scrum Team and stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making and course correction. They matter on the job because they foster collaboration, manage complexity, and ensure everyone understands the current priorities and goals. For instance, the Product Backlog lists all desired features for a software product, while the Sprint Backlog details the work chosen for the current iteration. Unlike static project plans, Scrum Artifacts are dynamic, evolving as the team learns and the product develops. You will encounter Scrum Artifacts on the PMP, CAPM, and PMI-ACP exams, and in Accumentum Expert-led training that maps vocabulary to exam domains.
