Deliverable

PathTerms

Definition

A deliverable represents any tangible or intangible product, service, or result that a project produces. It is a specific, measurable outcome that must be completed to satisfy project objectives and stakeholder requirements. In practice, deliverables are the concrete outputs that teams work towards, forming the basis for progress tracking and acceptance. Understanding deliverables is crucial for effective project planning, execution, and control, ensuring that the project team focuses on creating value. For instance, a software development project might have a deliverable of a fully functional user interface, a completed marketing campaign, or a deployed network infrastructure. This differs from a task, which is an action performed to create a deliverable. Deliverables are fundamental concepts tested on the PMP, CAPM, and PMI-ACP examinations.
