Sprint backlog

PathTerms

Definition

The sprint backlog is a subset of items selected from the product backlog for a specific sprint. It represents the work the development team commits to completing during that iteration. This dynamic list includes the selected product backlog items along with a plan for delivering them and the necessary tasks to complete the work. It provides focus and transparency for the team, enabling them to track progress and adapt as needed. For instance, a development team might pull user stories for a new feature into their sprint backlog, breaking them down into specific coding and testing tasks. Unlike the product backlog which is a long term view, the sprint backlog is a short term, timeboxed commitment. This concept is frequently tested on the PMI-ACP, CAPM, and PMP exams.
