Scrum Team Roles

PathTerms

Definition

Scrum Team Roles are the three distinct, self-organizing roles within the Scrum framework: Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Developers. The Product Owner represents stakeholders and defines product goals, the Scrum Master facilitates the Scrum process and removes impediments, and the Developers are the individuals who build the product increment. These roles work collaboratively to deliver value iteratively and incrementally. Understanding these roles is crucial for effective agile project execution and team communication. For instance, a Product Owner might prioritize user stories based on market demand, while the Developers work to complete them. This differs from traditional hierarchical management where roles are more rigidly defined and command-and-control is prevalent. Scrum Team Roles are frequently tested on PMP, CAPM, and PMI-ACP examinations.
