Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)® Training Course
Prepare for the PMI Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)® exam and learn to pick, balance, and govern the work that moves your organization toward its strategy.
What our PfMP course prepares you to do.
Most organizations can run projects well. The harder question is whether they are running the right ones. Our PfMP training course is for senior leaders who decide which projects, programs, and operations get funded, which ones wait, and which ones stop.
PMI describes the PfMP as proof that you can manage and align multiple projects, programs, and operations with your organization’s strategic goals. PMI positions it for executives and senior practitioners who manage a portfolio focused on doing the right work.
We build the course on the five domains PMI publishes for the PfMP exam. Strategic Alignment and Portfolio Performance each carry 25% of the exam. Governance carries 20%. Portfolio Risk Management and Communications Management each carry 15%.
Because PfMP candidates go through a panel review of their experience before they can schedule the exam, we also spend time on how to describe your portfolio work clearly and honestly in your application.

PfMP Exam Readiness
Align portfolios of projects, programs, and operations with strategy and prepare for the PfMP exam.

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a time limit of 240 minutes. PMI offers it in English only.
The exam covers Strategic Alignment 25%, Governance 20%, Portfolio Performance 25%, Portfolio Risk Management 15%, and Communications Management 15%.
After you pay the exam fee, a panel of volunteer subject matter experts reviews your experience summaries. Once you pass the panel review you can schedule the exam. PMI allows up to three attempts in one year.
To keep the credential active, PfMP holders earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) in each 3 year cycle.

Courses that pair well with PfMP.
PfMP builds on program and project leadership. Many candidates hold PgMP or PMP first, and PMI-PMOCP pairs well if you also run a PMO. You can browse every PMI course on our PMI training hub.

How we pace the PfMP course.
Our PfMP course has 5 modules, one for each PMI domain. Strategic Alignment is the largest domain at 25% of the exam, so it gets the most class time and practice.
Plan on steady weekly study between sessions. Read ahead in the PMI references, connect each topic to your own work, and bring real examples to class. In the final sessions we review weak spots domain by domain so you go into the exam with a clear plan.
PfMP career outlook and pay data.
Portfolio management sits closer to the executive table than almost any other project role. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a median annual wage of $102,320 for project management specialists in May 2025 and projects 7 percent job growth from 2025 to 2035, which is much faster than average. Portfolio leaders usually sit above that baseline because they decide which projects and programs get funded in the first place. PfMP is how you show a hiring panel that you can make those calls with discipline instead of gut feel.
Our domain by domain PfMP study plan.
We follow the weights PMI publishes for the PfMP exam, so the domains that count most get the most class time. Here is how we break it down.
Step 1
Strategic Alignment is a quarter of the exam, so we start there. We practice tying every component back to organizational strategy and walking a candidate project through selection criteria, scoring and approval.
Step 2
Governance is 20 percent. We spend time on decision rights, escalation paths, portfolio boards and how to write a governance charter that people actually follow.
Step 3
Portfolio Performance is another quarter. We work through value measurement, capacity and capability planning, and how to rebalance a portfolio when results drift away from the plan.
Step 4
Portfolio Risk Management and Communications Management are 15 percent each. We cover risk appetite at the portfolio level, aggregated risk, and how to report portfolio health to executives in plain language.
Mistakes we help PfMP candidates avoid.
The biggest mistake we see is answering PfMP questions like a program manager. The exam wants the portfolio view, so the right answer is usually the one that protects strategic value across the whole set of work, not the one that rescues a single project. Another common miss is weak experience summaries. The panel review is real, so we help you write summaries that describe portfolio decisions you made, not projects you ran.
In the last sessions we run timed practice, review every weak domain and build a short plan for the final two weeks before your exam date.
